What should a fiber construction closeout package include?

The required package depends on the owner, but a useful closeout typically includes redlines or as-builts, splice records, OTDR and optical power-test results, asset identification, exceptions and activation or handoff documentation.

When is horizontal directional drilling appropriate for a utility or fiber route?

HDD is often appropriate where a route must cross roads, driveways, landscaped areas or other features with limited surface disruption. Existing utilities, subsurface conditions, bore length, access, permits and restoration requirements must be evaluated before selecting the method.
